How To Get More Followers On Instagram

Okay so recently I have had a lot of people say “Alma you now have a lot of Instagram followers oh, how did you do it?” And when I think about it, I did nothing really. I’m just enjoying myself and doing what I love the way I love to do it! To top it up, a colleague yesterday was randomly asking how many IG followers each person had and when it was my turn, her reply was “What?! Alma you have to write a post on how to gain more followers on IG.” I didn’t even take her seriously ‘cos I’m like “Lol, nah not me.” But then on my way home after work, I actually thought about it and I think I have a few tips to share. Tell me if you think these following tips would work for you…

1. Put up interesting posts: Try not to bore your followers please. We all can tell when a picture or a video would stir up a lot of interactions. Uh huh, that’s the type I’m talking about!

2. Try not to put up an outfit or a ‘selfie’ numerous times (in slightly different poses): Trust me this totally gets to my bones! I’m like I want to see different pictures and I’m scrolling down and seeing your face in like 5 to 7 posts?! And they are immediately following each other? Even if you are a celebrity like Rihanna and you have to do that, please try to give some space in-between when posting them.

3. Have a story to tell: People have different reasons for opening their IG accounts. Some to show off their fashion style, others to show off their cooking skills, some to show how artistic they are, and the list goes on and on. What is your story?

4. Let your caption be worth the read! If you get to be known for “not-so-good” captions, people could just scroll past your picture without even double tapping. Come up with creative and yh, funny captions.

5. Use the right hashtags (#): You don’t want to put up a Sunday fashion picture and tag #food. Nah, it’s not just right. The right people won’t get to like your pictures. In the example; when food lovers get to like your ‘Sunday fashion’ picture, they definitely won’t follow. Because when they view your page, they won’t find what interests them.

6. Tag the brands, designers, locations, etc. I mean if you carrying a YSL bag, tag them. Don’t tag a designer you are not wearing. It is only acceptable to tag pages that are solely for featuring people (if you want to tag a page not directly associated with your post).

7. Be active and social: Reply your comments, like other people’s pictures, don’t be afraid to comment when you want to. Just be nice…

8. If your own story is about fashion, dress well! Look good, presentable and neat! Take good quality pictures and show them off! *wink*

Maybe not all the tips would work for you, but definitely some will! Let me know your thoughts in the comment section.
